Don't know if you consider it old or not, but Mary Poppins is my all time favorite movie. I love to go home when I'm sick, pop in the dvd and climb into bed and watch it. It's just such a feel good movie and it's a great musical too!

I like a lot of the Abbott & Costello movies - my husband got me into those.

Old Shirley Temple movies are classics. I wish I could catch Little Miss Marker on tv sometime. I always loved that movie when I was little, but haven't seen it for many, many years.

Some of my other favorites are The Wizard of Oz, Roman Holiday, It's a Wonderful Life, and Miracle on 34th Street.

Can you believe it? I've never seen Gone with the Wind! I've always wanted to see it. I think I'll have to rent it sometime.

Another one I love is The Ghost and Mrs. Muir. I think that is the name of it. The one where the woman buys the old house on the coast and the ghost of the man who owned it visits her.

They show up every now and then on TV, they were cute movies, gee how time changes things, todays kids would find them silly/boring, but they were good comedy pic's.

Yes, that was very impressive and seasonally appropriate too ;) .

My SIL said she would like some old movies for Christmas, so I appreciate this thread for giving me ideas of good ones. Does anyone know a good place to buy these? Do they make collections with several of these movies? I can search online, but if anyone knows a good store or site that sells them, please post it. Thanks.

Try Best Buy or Sun Coast. If you want to purchase online try Reel.com (http://reel.com/) they have a good selection and offer many in DVD or VHS format.

Good luck on your search.

Too Too many to choose but I do love "Bringing up Baby" Hepburn and Grant- black and white movie- very cute!!

Love Dean Martin and Jerry Lewis movies as well, along with Incredible Mr. Limpit and Ghost and Mr. chicken. Daniel has never seen some of these older movies and I just love to rent them online so he can broaden his movie library.

I also am a huge fan of John Wayne- who FYI- had bought my dear grandma a drink at the bar she was tending way way back when. She loved him too- bless her and him!!

Great thread... sorry I missed this one

P.S. Wizard of OZ is my favorite all time movie.... but this was "old" movie thread

This is not a favorite, but I wanted to say something about this movie. A couple weeks ago, DA and I watched Food of the Gods, a movie I saw at the drive in in the 70's when I was really little. Seeing it now, was really bizarre. I am really pretty sure that they killed, actually killed, the rats they used in the movie. They shot some and they drowned some of them! It was pretty disturbing to realize that!
