Hey guys! My son is running a 104 temp. so my Mom just left to take him to the doctor and I am leaving to go to school. Please say a little prayer for him that everything is going to be okay.. He was complaining about his head and legs hurting.. I hate to see my little kid hurting. I am scared and I hope that this is just a virus that passes. He cant keep anything down so.. I am rambling on now! I better go! I have a test and hardly even studied for it! Thank you all!!:) :(

Update us as soon as you can Allison! I know what you mean-I would rather be sick 365 days a year than to see my kids sick-especially when they were smaller like yours:( Prayers for Josiah!
Hope he's rollerskating again soon and waking up the neighbors;)

Thank you all for the prayers! I came home early from school tonight. We have to go back to the doctor on Tuesday to get a refferal to a Pediatric Gastroenterologist since this is the 4th time he has been sick (I thought it was only 3 times but the doctor looked at his record and said 4 times)!! Whenever he is not sick he throws up like 3 times a week. No matter what he eats. He's not lactose intolerant either, so the Dr is going to refer us to a spe******t.. Again, thank you all for the thoughts and prayers.

Alison... so sorry to hear Josiah is not feeling well. Saying prayers for him right now.

I know about Celiac Disease (http://digestive.niddk.nih.gov/ddiseases/pubs/celiac/), it's an allergy to gluten products. My hubby had it as well as all 10 of his siblings. Our son Richard had it too. They all grew out of it by the time they were 5 years old, but they were dx'd as infants. You'll need to have to adjust his diet, no breads, cakes, sweets or anything with gluten it it.

Hugs,
Mae

You're welcome Alison. I had never heard of the disease until we had our son (second child). He spit-up all of the time as a baby even when he was breastfed. At first our pediatrician thought he had reflux and told me to sit him up at a 45 degree angle after feeding him. I did, it didn't work. She thought it might be his formula. I had stopped nursing when he was 3 months old, so we played roulette with formula trying EVERYTHING on the market back them (25 yrs ago, actually 26, he's 25yrs old ...LOL) He still spit-up!!

When I mentioned to my MIL about how much Richard spit-up she asked if he had celiac disease, I asked her what it was. She told me and suggested I try him on goat milk. I did, he was okay on it for a few months but them started spitting it up. It was VERY expensive back then so I said forget it he can spit-up formula since it is cheaper. Of course. I asked our pediatrician about it and she said as long as he was not losing weight, it would be fine. He was able to start eating gluten products when he was 18 months, and he's had no digestive problems since he was about 3yrs old.

Hope this help hon.

hugs,
Mae

Well Mae,

It sounds really different than what I think my son has. As a baby he hardly ever spit up.. About 2 years ago he started to throw up randomly.. He has lost has weight and I think thats why the DR wants him to go to a special ist. My younger son weighs more than Josiah!! Josiah only weighs 39 pounds WET! I have no idea what it could be. I just hope its nothing serious.:( He always complains that he is tired, dizzy, and that his legs hurt! I dont know what to do but to wait until we see the special ist..

I just saw this thread. I'm glad to hear he is okay, but I'll keep praying that the doctors figure out what is going on soon. That must be so hard on him to get sick so much! And I know it has to be hard on you too...I'm a wreck whenever one of my boys is sick!

Allison, I'm glad your son is doing better! My kids are grown now, (20 & 17) and rarely get sick. My oldest though, was plagued with similar symptoms all through the years. Drs gave him all kinds of x-rays, mri's, and bloodwork etc. But he used to get dizzy, throw up, had aches n pains, He was very skinny, wouldn't gain wt, either, eyes bothered him etc. If he didn't eat by a certain time throughout the day- he would get sick. We thought maybe he was diabetic. He also had to get glasses when he was very young.Turns out (like me), he had/has migraines. He gets them less freaquent now, because he avoids the triggers as much as possible. He's 6'2 now, and has filled out-no more nobby knees! He still has to eat breakfast by a certain time or else he will get a bad headache-& throw up. But nothing like when he was young.

My friends daughter recently had e-coli bacteria. It was causing her to have vomiting and a high fever. After several doctor visits, it was diagnosed and treated w/ antibiotics.
I'm glad the doctor has referred you to a spe******t. The sooner you get a diagnosis, the sooner Josiah will be on the road to recovery and the sooner you can be at ease.
Remember we are all praying for you guys!!!

Hun, I didn't mean to scare you. Here is where I found that information.
http://www.csaceliacs.org/celiac_symptoms.php

I mentioned it because a lot of doctors do not look for that, I learned about it on the tv show The View, Elizabeth Hasselbeck has the disease and had talked about it and how hard it was to get a diagnose.

Why in the world did it bleap out special ist???

Because it has the drug name C i a l i s in the middle.

Allison, please don't worry yourself to death. See what the doc has to say and if that doesn't make sense or you get no answers, then get a second opinion and start researching more.
Remember, you have been sick also. Stress and worrying are not going to help you at all. Josiah needs you more than anything.
Saying another prayer for you and Josiah;)
