have you considered working alternate shifts until the baby gets a little older? when the hubby came in I went to work most fast food places pay decent and can work around mommy hours. McDonalds is great!! You still get home in time to get some sleep and be up to watch your child in the day!
I raised two now on the third I'm sure there are a lot of folks like me who have done this!

Hi I work at one of the actual call centers for Teletech and they have a work at home program. I applied a few months back but just my luck my computer crashed so I didn't get to finish the application process.
Here's the link if you're interested:

Can you tell me what hirepoint does? who are their clients? What type of work is the work at home person doing? I'm intriqued, but I can't tell from this website what they specifically do. They did a great job on creating a website that gives you just enough information--but doesn't answe that question!
Thanks!!!:)

I honestly don't know what clients they're working with on their Work At Home program. Everything at Teletech is kept pretty confidential-including their clients. I can tell you at my Call Center they work with Sprint, Verizon, Time Warner Cable, and United Healthcare. I believe the Work at Home is working with the same "types" of clients and depending on the client you are placed with you could be doing anything ranging from billing to troubleshooting.
Sorry I don't have much info. The Call Center and the Work at Home are two different entities where I'm at but I am going to apply again and maybe able to tell you more in the next day or two!

Hey vealcalf, good luck!
I used to work at a call center, and it's pretty stressful! Do you enjoy your job? I got tired of dealing with angry, irate customers.

LOL I've been working at my job for 9 years now and it can be stressful at times but I really don't mind the work. I can say I've gotten a bit "burned out" and wouldn't mind trying something new. My son starts school this year so it might be the best time for mommy to go back to school too!

I dont really know any GOOD work at home companys....I can just give you the heads up on Ameriplan DO NOT DO IT! It is a big scam. I spent so much money on that business and got NOTHING in return. Plese do not do it it is not worth it. They will lie and do whatever they have to do to get you to join. I lost almost $1500 in 3 months on Ameriplan and never got a member or a broker. So basically no money in return.

Nine years is a long time! You must be great with the customers. I could only handle it for a year!
If you decide to go back to school, I wish you well. It's not easy, but it's worth it!

Thanks! I'm 31 yrs old and still don't know what I want to do when I grow up! It's hard, everyone talks about jobs making good money-like nursing but just don't think I'm cut out for that kind of work. I figure once the little one starts school it'll be a little easier for me. Sure wish I would of went to college right out of HS but oh no I knew it all!!!!!

You're not alone. I am 43 and don't know what I want to be when I grow up. I have an Associates Degree in Liberal Arts (graduated May 2006), but I am still trying to decide what to do next. It's very difficult! I've talked to a lot of people about it, and few people seem to be truly happy with what they're doing. My sister graduated from college, had a seemingly dream job at the Pentagon (systems analyst), but after less than 10 years of working has had it. She quit her job a couple of months ago, and has settled into domestic bliss. Maybe I should just stick to being a wife and mom, heh, heh.

Domestic bliss-that sounds great! I didn't persue any education after high school and that was a bad mistake. I started working my SR Year in School and never looked back. Now, I'm thinking for all the years I've put into customer service I could of had an education and had an actual career. I catered for awhile and really thought that was what I really wanted to do (love to cook) but found the need in my area is not that great. There are like 2 or 3 established caterers that everyone uses or a lot of people just have their families chip in anymore.
Oh well, I applied for the work at home through my current employer and will see how that goes. If all pans out son will start school, I'll be established to work at home, and MAYBE I can go back to school--uh oh keep forgeting I still don't know what I want to do! I'll work out the MINOR details later!

You could always start and get your general education requirements out of the way. Or you could start and end up like me--general education requirements out of the way and still not know what you want to do, LOL!
Whatever you decide, good luck! I hope you get/enjoy the new job. :)

Could you please let me know how this works out for you? I am interested in working at home, but am tired of getting burned by these online companies that end up charging so much money and get no results from them.

There are so many scam companies out there, and here is the tip, never pay to get a job, ever! reputable companies never ask for money, EVER. and that means NEVER....if you insist on paying, kiss your money goodbye!

Thanks for all of your responses! I work at the regular Teletech Call Center so I can definetely say this is a legit work at home company. Teletech's always just had regular call centers and they're all over the world. The work at home was just stated about a year ago. I completed my application the other day so hopefully they'll be calling soon. If I hear anything I'll post it here.
If anyone wants to visit their site here's the URL again
http://www.hirepoint.com/athome/index.html
In all honesty the info is pretty vague on the site but Teletechs really big into client confidentiality so I don't think they initially put that info out there until they verify if they'd like to hire you.

I know several stay at home moms that have gone to some of the local business offices in town and have been able to get typing work from them. Also, several of my friends are now cleaning houses for one or two people just a couple days a week. we all pitch in and take turns with our children when needed.

That is nice that you have someone to watch the kids, that is very nice, I am a grandma and I was just thinking the other day that I would love to do some occasional babysitting, nothing daily, been there and done that, lol, but maybe on the weekends so parents can go out for the evening, I am going to have to look into that.....Oh and welcome to SS forum, hope you find some good free items too.

Thanks for the welcome! I love anything free!
I'm wondering if some of the other moms might get together and trade days for watching each others kids. I have six, and you can imagine babysitter costs. I don't have any family around to babysit for us. I'm lucky that my older ones can help with the younger ones.
I've also started a business at home so that I didn't have to get back into the work force right away. I've been out for 11 years now and I'm not sure I qualify for anything anymore! I'm not the babysitting type. My kids can tell you how picky I am about stuff, but I will always help someone out when they need one. That's how our mom group works.

Well I got an email back from Teletech to start the next step in getting hired. They sent me a link to check my computer and see if it can suppot the software I'd need to install to work at home. Unfortunatly, I've been having some computer problems and can't get the diagnostic test to complete:(
We really need to have our puter looked at so we're going to take it to our local computer repair shop the only problem is you are only given 48 hrs to do the diagnostic. I guess after that you'd have to start the entire process over again.
Since I already work for Teletech I'm personally going to see if someone from my HR can give me a heads up on what to do. Maybe if my computer is repaired in a few days they can let me continue on w/the process instead of starting over.
So for now I guess my "journey" ends here but for anyone who is interested I can't emphasize enough that Teletech IS a legit company and the Work at Home is not a scam. I've worked for the company for 9 years now at a regular call center, so If anyone wants to ask me any questions about it feel free to post here or send me a private message.
Thanks!

It is okay you do not have to appologize. I just dont want anyone else to have to go through all that. It was a really horrible experience.

Unfortunatly not, my computer is old and just won't support the software. I'd definetly encourage you or anyone else to try though because Teletech is a legit company. I work at one of their call centers in my home town, so I know it's not a scam. Good Luck!!!!!

Hi there! You said it's a legit company, but I was wondering about the lawsuit and all the comments I see at Ripoff report.com about teletech. I had an interview set up for an at home position for next week and just ran across this all so I was getting leary of the interview.
