View Full Version : March of Dimes--March for Babies

I am wondering if any of you are participating in March for Babies. It was referred to as "Walk America" in the past and MOD came up with a new name. We wanted everyone to know we walk for all babies and not just premature.

If some of you have been to K-Mart then you probably saw the March for Babies sign at the register. K-Mart is a corporate sponsor of the MOD and they always sell the shoes for us as well.

If you have questions, please let me know.

It is great fun for everyone in the family and it is MOD biggest fundraiser of the year. We have family teams that may walk for a baby in the family. We have fun for the kids and a family teams tent just for the kids. We also have fun for the adults as well. The walk takes place early in the morning and we provide breakfast. There is also a radio station broadcasting live from the walk site. It is a lot of fun and the walk takes a full year to plan.

Thanks! Most of the Walks take place at the end of April. It really depends on your area and the weather.

We have 3 in New Mexico and our Walk in Albuquerque takes place May 10th.

If you would like to know where your local walk is held visit your MOD state webpage.

You would go to www.marchofdimes.com/newmexico or www.marchofdimes.com/florida

Just make sure you put your state after the backslash and the information should come up.

I was chairman of my local March of Dimes,and am still very active in it,it helped me at one point in time ad its the least I can do to give back to a wonderful organazation!! I would give my last dollar to them...

That is great to hear! I work at the state program director and I also work at the local NICU with the families. It is such a rewarding organization and I've met some really great people.

Brandy,I admire you for what you do:) ,WE attended a birthday party today and the guest of honor is 7 and he collects monies all year long for the March of Dimes,as they are a major roll in his life!I got involved back in 94.;) It is an organization I TRUELY believe in!

And I thank you for supporting us. The MOD is such a strong organization in Florida. We only have 4 staff for the entire state here. We have a large job, but working with the families is sooo rewarding. There is not a day that goes by that I do not look at the NICU babies and die inside. It is just sad.

Oh I know the NICU babies are heartbreaking,have 1 myself that survived the odds and is thriving...So I truely appreciate you and your job!!OK,gotta stop or the tears will start.

You have a great success story! I do scrapbooking with the families at least once a month to track progress of the baby. They love it!

We just had a baby that was admitted and weighed about one pound. I had to excuse myself and go cry a little. He was so adorable and so small. He would fit in your hand.:(

I love the scrapbooking idea,that would have been a wonderful thing for us,but never thought of it truthfully...I spent all my time there,we were given a room at no charge for to use,our hospital was great..We were in a different city and they did EVERYTHING they could to help us........

I wanted to work in the NICU at one point,but I feel I would become too attached:(

oh my gosh, when we were at children's with Emily, they had here in ICU the first night and I saw all those babies in there and that is very heartbreaking!! I don't know how those nurses can do it! It takes a special person to be able to do that kind of work. I just thank God that I was only up there for one night!!!

It is very heartbreaking,been there done it....:( I'm thankfull you only needed to be there one night as well,it does drain you.

thats for sure!! I could not sleep the whole night I was there! My friend showed at 4 AM and brought my a beer in a coffee mug and I sat in the lobby talking and drinking it!!LOL!! she was very brave to do that, but boy did that help to let some stress go!!! I hope to never go thru something like that again!

Thank you,I'm excited!! Kids are also,My Dad is so excited for me getting back into it.He is involving his side of the family:D By the way,thanks again for posting this and getting me back involved,it feels good!

We have our kick-off at the Citicards building, a radio station comes, we have food, March for Babies goodies, etc. It will be a lot of fun!

I am so excited,that I figured I would raise my goal somemore!!:) Kids&I are making u:) p our forms and talk for the neighbors as to why we are collecting and why its a good cause!!

Things went really well. We had over 160 people show up and we even ran out of food. Only 60 RSVp'ed lol.:D

WE did the whole walk,Brandy!! It was so much fun:) my legs are still burning but, it was worth it! We walk in Ravine Gardens as well,it was so beautiful in there and we finished the walk in 2 hours:D my daughter was so ready to fall out,poor kid.But just wanted to let you know we did it and had a good time!!

WE did the whole walk,Brandy!! It was so much fun:) my legs are still burning but, it was worth it! We walk in Ravine Gardens as well,it was so beautiful in there and we finished the walk in 2 hours:D my daughter was so ready to fall out,poor kid.But just wanted to let you know we did it and had a good time!!

Awesome! I am so proud of you. :) :)

With the little time I collected we got 130.00 I thought that was good due to the economy:( :)

We had our Albuquerque March for Babies today and boy am I exhausted. I got up at 4 and had to be at the event at 6am. Things went great and the weather was beautiful!

We had a great turnout and on Monday we will know exactly how we did.:D

That sounds great,Brandy except getting up that early:( hope you guys did very well! Let me know;)
