May is Skin Cancer Awareness Month
Every 67 minutes, someone dies from skin cancer. With early detection, most of these deaths can be prevented.
May is Skin Cancer Awareness Month. To help bring extra awareness to this deadly serious cancer, Olay and the American Society for Dermatologic Surgery (ASDS) have teamed together and invite you and a friend to get a free skin cancer screening.
Friendship is a powerful tool. Friends listen to friends when they won't listen to anyone else. You can make a difference in the lives of those you care about most. Are you willing to get involved to help protect them and yourself?
We invite you to take the first step by learning more, attending a free screening and always wearing SPF protection.

I'm glad that your daughter was diagnosed early enough, Cpogie. HUGS to you and your daughter.

Maybe we could bump this post up once in a while so that others can be reminded and go to the link to see where and when a free screening will be held in their area.

You probably will save some lifes with this post. Skin cancer is so prevelant and easy to cure if found early.
While it is fun to get samples, this message is even worthier

Yah, this is a pretty great site of caring people. We helped save someone's grampa's farm, we've listened to the Autism Speaks song many times, we Click to give for the Hunger Site, etc. We spread the word and do what we can. All because we like free samples. :)

Merrily, I moved your thread to the Health thread and I stuck it so it will stay at the top.

Lynne, Unfortunately, genetics have nothing to do with skin cancer, I wish that was true, best detection is checking yourself, you can have skin cancer anywhere on your body, from the bottom of your foot to the top of your head.

My daughter was very lucky, her surgery left a huge scar on her back and all of her lymph nodes taken from under her left arm. I told her to be proud of those scars, it represented that she was a survivor.

No problem with the move, Cpogie. Anywhere you feel it is appropriate is fine with me. I just put it here because there was the link for the Free Screening.

HUGS & PRAYERS to you and your daughter.

Thanks for the post. I try to learn as much about skin cancer as I can. I realized years ago that for many of my clients, I may be the only one that sees most of their body. I try to be extra vigilant because I would hate to have missed something that would possibly cost someone their life.

What is ironic is that many of the things that I have found are on clients that are married. Really though, when you think about it, how often do you check your spouse from head to toe? I know that I rarely did. So maybe this will help people be more aware--Check them out-literally!!! You may save their life!:)
