Hee Hee - my son is looking at board books - key here is LOOKING - he is actually bringing them to us now though! (He is now 14 months, and used to hate sitting down for family reading time, now he enjoys it and will actually get fussy if we skip over a book he is interested in.)

Lately, he has loved one from Target for $1.00 that is a really short board book about Dumbo.

He also likes a fuzzy book (fuzzy fabric throughout the book to touch/feel) about a bear who loves his family, and a Winnie the Pooh book about counting.

He's just starting to enjoy the Little People books that you can flip parts of the pages and see what is under the flaps. . . .

I know this isn't what you were looking for, but I thought I'd post!

:)

We've got a few of the Calvin and Hobbes books, and they are a lot of fun!

My nine yr. old Malley just finished a biography about Molly Pitcher. She has to do a report on a historical figure, so that's who she picked. She wanted to know why the woman on the cover had brown hair, and the book says Molly Pitcher had blonde hair. I told her the artist must not have read the book! :p

My kids love the Junie B. Jones books! Heck, I love 'em! Even though my kids are now 14 and 12, we still get the Junie B. Jones books the minute a new one comes out, and I read it aloud to them. Old habits die hard!

I love to read and have instilled it into my daughter at a very young age...and it paid off she is now 13 will be 14 next week...but once she learned to read she took off so fast by the begining of first grade she was reading at a 5th grade level..and had just learned at the end of kindergarten...she read over 800 books that summer...and her nose was always in a book...now my 5 yr old ds is a different story if I could get him to sit still long enough to finish a book...would be a miracle...he knows all his letters and most of his sounds...but wont sit still long enough to actually try to put it together... he would rather play than learn and my daughter is complete opposite.

My 5 yr old is reading "The Day The Dinosaurs Died." He reads from the beginning everyday and adds a page. He's so excited every night to get to a new page! He says he loves the book too because he picked it out and bought it himself at the book fair at school....guess it made him feel grown up.:)

My son is really into these books! His teacher is amazed he is reading such an adult book. I think it started when I grounded him from his xbox and he was looking for similarities between me and the mother in the book. I'm mean, I guess, grounding him for 2 whole days.

When my kids were young they loved Judy Blume and R.L. Stein books.

A couple of their favorite Judy Blume books were "Tales of A 4th Grade Nothing" and "Romona The Pest." The LOVED all of the "GooseBump" series from R.L. Stein.
