View Full Version : Foot Detox Pads/Bath - Does it work?

I've seen info on the foot detox pads (you sear them on the soles of your feet, they supposedly draw toxins out of your body) and detox foot baths.

I'm kind of skeptical, but if they work, would love to jump on board! Anyone have any experience with anything like this? I am concerned with the chemicals/pesticides in our food/environment.

Thanks!!!! Wendi

I have seen those commercials and there is no way a pad can do what it claims, there may be a chemical in that pad that turns it black, (Ick)

Here is a great site, it deals with informercials and what people have to say about a product, some like this, some don't.
Your best bet is to call a foot doctor and ask them about this item, I am sure they have heard about this product.

I was wondering if they put something in them to make them turn color no matter what.

"I tried the kinoki pads on both feet and they became largely black overnight. Then I opened a new pad and poured filtered water (Pur system) across it and the kinoki pad turned just as black in a few seconds. It appears that skin moisture may be the causal affect rather than body toxins."

They were talking about it on the Bob & Tom show today. One of the radio hosts, Chick McGee had good things to say about them....

Everything I have read so far was negative. Things like supposedly taking toxins out of you body and they can prove with lab tests from what is on the used pad.....majority agree it was in the chemicals they used to make the pad in the first place. If they really worked like they say, it would be all over the news and the front page of the paper. lol

I've been kind of skeptical - been considering them for over a year, but can't find any true "medical proof" that they actually work.

I know we are exposed to strange chemicals, and would love to find a good way to help detox the family, but just don't know if these are legit - also, there are so many brands out there, if a few are legit, and a few aren't, it will mess everything up. . .

Thanks for your feedback everyone! The jury's still out on this one!

Vitamin C in large doses is an awesome natural detoxifier. Massive natural gas explosions though, so grab some clothes pins for your noses!

Hee Hee - I usually take Vitamin C in 2000mg doses (I think) when I puff up from eating something bad for me, but had to stop when my son had diareah for days at a time (no idea how to spell that) when ever I took it - I still breastfeed him for naps and before bed.

I did forget it was a detoxifier! Hmmm - maybe I'll try a smaller dose - thanks Lynne!

My best friend works in a spa and she said it is bogus. I am definitely believing her because she is always trying to get me in the place....too expensive!

Yep - I've just heard so much about the chemicals that non-stick pans and other items (microwaved food in plastic containers), and was hoping to find something to really get that junk out! :)

There are lots of detoxifying herbs. Milk thistle, burdock, marshmallow root just to name a few. Also a raw veggie fast is an awesome natural detox.
And of course, lots of water.
My husband and I tried the foot pads. I'm not sure if I totally believe it, but what happened was cool. My husband's pads and mine were darker in different places. I googled reflexology images and got a "foot map". I was having thyroid issues and that's the part that was darkest on mine. My husband has IBS and the "stomach" area was the darkest part on his pad. (Reflexology is where different parts of the bottom of your foot correspond to different organs/areas of the body.)

I do a variety of things, so, like I said, I'm not totally convinced about the foot pads. Yes, I do feel so much better after detoxing. I am 36, and was walking like a 70+ year old. When I stood up, I would stay bent for a few minutes because I was so stiff. My knees also hurt. All of my joints hurt. I was exhausted all the time, no matter how much sleep I got. My face was always broken out. My hair was falling out more than it should...on and on. All of these things have stopped or greatly improved. I rotate what I do every so often. Burdock (good over all detox), milk thistle (good liver detox), marshmallow (lung detox), hot baths with sea salt and herbs (detox thru skin), raw veggies and fruit, excercise. I also take multivitamin and probiotics among other supplements. :D How do you get toxins out? pee, poop, sweat, breathe!:D

If anyone is interested, these foot pads were the subject of one segment on tonights 20/20, what they will do for sure is drain your wallet. Here is the video from that segment.

Thanks! I missed that show. As I said a few posts up, I did try them and wasn't convinced. And the best way to detox is to PEE, POOP, SWEAT AND BREATHE!!!:D
Also, I just learned that psyllium seeds/husks "grab on" to toxins and help you "eliminate" them. I had been taking the capsules for regularity, but didn't know I was getting a bonus!

Thanks for the update - I saw these at Walgreens the other day and **Almost** picked them up!! :) Guess I'll save money and do it the regular ways.

Thanks for the link Carol!

Thanks for this website-it's awesome!!! I wish I had know about it before I bought that Buxton Bag-what a ripoff!!!! The "leather" came apart instantly, the strap has to be worn across the chest and kept cutting into my neck. Additionaly, you can hardly fit anything in it! It all mushes together ,and what you can manage to get in there has to be taken out so that you can get at what you want!

I bought 21 of the Kinoki foot pads off ebay. I just had too since I saw an auction closing and got them for only $4.01 plus free shipping. They smell like "liquid smoke". ( I am not kidding!) And they are sticky, sticky, sticky in the AM. I just had to see what the fuss is all about. I do agree with some on other forums, my mouth is really dry the next AM, too! Oh well made myself happy for only 4 bucks. lol
