I will say a prayer for you & your son!!! Have they ruled out migraines yet??? Does he get any "vision" symptoms before he gets the headache? Ie: blind spots, wavy lines, can't see right? Lights are very bright, sounds are very loud? My MD totally missed the migraine "vision" symptoms with me! He didn't even ask! But of course the first step is a CAT scan to rule out anything else so don't be alarmed!

Did you know that Van Gogh suffered from "vision symptoms?" We know this because he sometimes painted them into his paintings!
Prayer for you too, asumom! Keep your chin up!

I didn't know that! Poor guy was probably trying to get the painting done before the headache hit! For those that get vision symptons, they usually occur right before the headache starts!

You can count on my thoughts and prayers. It seems to me that the nicest people are going through the roughest times right now. I think the world is starting to wrap up, so right now people are being tested in their ability to "endure to the end". Just keep your faith strong and keep going and the Lord will deliver you and your family. If you need help being strong or just letting stuff of your chest, I'm here for you. :o

My God watch over your son and the doctors doing the testing. I pray they find nothing in the scan. Perhaps it is seasonal, not sure where you live but here in Missouri it is Spring one day and Winter less than 24 hours later.
Keep us posted.

Prayers are being sent your way right now! You guys have probably already ruled this out, but when I was in Jr. High and High School, I didn't like to eat or drink water, so I was too thin and dehydrated - I used to get the worst headaches, I would be unable to do anything! My mom would literally send me to bed. The doctors never could figure it out, I eventually did when I started to take better care of myself and they went away.
I'm hoping and praying that your son's headaches are caused by something similar, and not something really serious!
Some other posters mentioning Migraines have a point. I get those from time to time, and they can be triggered by stress, light, motion, etc.
Good luck, and blessings to your family!

I want to thank each and everyone one of you for your prayers and suggestions, It could be migraines , but we were told they would go away with sleep,His eyes are sensitive to lite and loud noises make it feel like a stabbing pain he says, sometimes quick movements make it worst, he drinks alot of water and is in good health,We hope they find nothing, but figure it out, I feel like I am lost I don't know how to make the pain go away, could be sinus but sinus meds would help and it doesn't, so we are stuck until tomorrow when we go for a consult on the scan , so keep praying they will figure it out and the pain goes away.Thank you and God Bless
6We live in Texas so it really could be seasonal allergies, but they didn't think so

Is this constant for your poor boy, or is it reoccurring? God bless him either way, but your last post made me wonder. Either way is awful for him, but constant would just be utterly unbearable! HUGS and prayers for you both!!

Oh, that's awful! Anything so constant like that just wears you down. You can kind of adjust to it, but that is way too unfair for a 17 yr. old boy to have to go thru! Redoubling my prayer efforts for EVERYONE!! I'm sure God must be getting tired of me begging!

I will be praying for your son as well.
I know when I get bad headaches my back and neck are out and if I go get adjusted they will go away. I was out in 4 places and was 10 pounds heavier on one side than the other before I started seeing a chiropractor. Man that helps!!

Migraines can be caused by lots of things (too much sleep, not enough sleep, skipping meals, food triggers, sinus infections, all sorts of things)...... Based on what you've said, sounds like migraine symptoms and can be treated!!! :) Make sure you tell his Dr. about those specific symptoms!!! The first time I got a migraine I thought my head was going to explode! My boss had to take me to the ER! It didn't go away for three days (even with sleep)! Your head gets so sore after the actual headache, that just turning your head quick or bending down makes your head pound!!!
God Bless you both & I hope he gets the treatment he needs asap!

first i want to thank everyone, for there prayers and concerns, The aapt, went about like I thought it would the cat scan was inconclusive, One thing it did show was some small puss pockets in the sinus cavity and some fluid retention. They put him on a good dose of antibotics, a decongestion and a medicine to treat migraines with, he was told that drug would make him sleepy, so becareful and sleep. If these meds don't help come back, we have a scheduled appt for the 29 of feb, so hopeful all is good when we go back,
My son came home from school and said the radio in his car caught fire so they had to pull it out wires and all, dad told him not to worry they would get it straightened out. NO STRESS.(lol)

Wonderful news! Nothing major anyway!!! Could be combination of sinusitis/migraine! Poor guy! Poor (((mom)))! LOL! I had sinus surgery 11 yrs. ago & Dr. said "don't be surprised if it helps with your migraines"! He was right! Quite often, a sinus infection will trigger a migraine in me! This weather doesn't help either cold, warm, cold! I'm sensitive to temperature changes.... causes an allergic-like reaction!
Anyway, best of luck & keep us up to date on how he's doing!!! :)

Sorry, but I just saw this thread. Hoping that the meds work also.
If they don't, ask your son to keep a headache journal. It often helps find the problem. He would need to jot down his pain scale at different intervals of the day, activities, what he ate, how long he slept, etc. Sometimes doctors don't find the answers and it's up to us to figure it out ourselves. Unfortunate, but it's the reality all too often.:(
Prayers for some answers and some relief!

My thoughts are with both you and your son. When I was 13, my migraines became so bad that I actually had a RX to wear my sunglasses in class because I was so sensitive to the florescent lights. I missed a lot of school because I was so sick with them. Then of course they had to scare us and send me for the CAT scan as a precaution. Finally it was a firm diagnoses that it was just severe migraines. Oh how I suffered. The meds that they have today are miracles once you find the one that works for you. A big thing though is watching his triggers. That journal that Dawn suggested will tell you guys a lot about little triggers that you wouldn't have thought of. Peanuts, Red Wine, Grapes, Tomatoes and Tomato Sauce, ie pizza, cured meats, chocolate......just a few that I have to stay away from when I get just a little ache so it doesn't go full blown migraine.
I too agree with the others that said about going to a chiropractor and about the sinus surgery. You would be amazed how closed knit that it all is.
oh, BTW, when he gets these headaches, does he get nauseated? If he can throw up, it is a big relief to a migraine. Sorry to gross anyone out, but it really does help. After vomitting, he needs to lie down with an ice pack on the back of his neck in a cold, dark room that is quiet. At least that is what works for me and everyone in my family that has them. Maybe it will help him some?!
