Did you have a brush with fame? Did your friend? Friends friend? Who'd you meet and what's the story?
My sister was at a parade in Prove, Ut. many years ago and had a chance to see Robert Redford. He was sitting in a lawn chair on his mom's roof watching the parade.
My only personal claim to fame is meeting Jake "the Snake" Roberts (wrestler from the late 80's) when I worked at a convenience store in Lawrenceville, GA. He drove up in a tiny red car. When he got out you couldn't imagine him fitting in there! He is really tall! He came in, got a 6 pack of Coors Lt and a pack of Marlboro lights. I wouldn't have recognized him, but my ex was a wrestling fan. I looked at him and said (stupidly!), "Aren't you that one guy?" lol He was really nice and gave me an autograph.

Years and years ago when I was a teenager there was a show called the Donna Reed show, in it was a guy named Paul Peterson, he just happened to sing also, and had a hit record out at the time called "She can't find her keys", he also lived near me in Glendale, Calif. one day my girlfriend and I were walking on Glenoaks Blvd, and who pulls up but Paul Peterson, he says to us want a ride, we recognize him and say yes! we get in the car, a convertible and it just happens that his song comes on the radio, and he breaks out in song and sung the song to us, he dropped us off and thanked us and was on his way, we were both in awe that we got to ride and talk to Paul Peterson!

Do concerts count? LOL!
When I was a teenager, I met Erin Moran. She was here in Tulsa promoting the Jerry Lewis telethon. I also met Anita Bryant after a concert one time. Me and some other girls from my church were asked to be greeters for guests that met her after the concert. Years ago, I also met Lou Ferigno at a shopping center grand opening. Also, I saw Edward Albert at the Las Vegas airport one time.
My dad went to high school with Mel McDaniel (country singer).
Tracy, my local BFF has ran into Garth Brooks and Trisha Yearwood before. Tracy lives in Owasso, OK, as does Garth and Trisha.
Interestingly, Cyndie has also seen Tom Cruise. She saw him at a movie theater in Westwood. I know she's seen other celebrities, but I can't think of who. I'll have to ask her.
Finally, my brother was a security guard for DeBeers for awhile. His job was to travel with the borrowed jewelry to safeguard it. I can't remember who all he met, but I do remember that he met Eva Longoria. He also met Michael Clark Duncan at a Clippers game one time. I have proof positive of this! Check it out:

I'll have to jog my memory for this one....
All I can think of right now is Metallica. I had a friend when I lived in Louisville nicknamed Metallica Tom. Tom, a mutual friend Greg, and I went all the way to Tallahassee to see them. We had back stage passes, so I got to meet all of the band members and I got a picure with Jason. This was in the early 90's about the time that Jason shaved his head.
My aunt taught Tom Cruise's sister in high school and had been to their house for dinner. I can't even remember his real name now:rolleyes: , but it's not Tom Cruise. Anyway, I never met him but he is from my hometown.
There were a lot of celebrities at a golf tournament that I did chair massage at a few years ago, but since they were mostly sports celebrities, they weren't very memorable to me. I did meet that Alfonso guy from Prince of Bel Air.
My late stepfather used to live in Bloomington, Indiana-home of John Cougar Mellencamp. I saw him when we were eating at a little steakhouse there, but decided not to bother him.
Ok--I'll have to think some more....

Dawn, I believe Tom's real last name is Mapother.
Got another one! Cyndie's hubby, Tony, is friends with Mark Hoppus (Blink-182). They scuba dive together.
This is Mark with my niece, Kristina (middle), and Rorie, Cyndie's younger daughter:

That rings a bell, although not as loudly as I thought it would:rolleyes: My memory is really bad!! I guess it has been a long time since she told me about it though.
I'm trying to remember some of the bands I met when I worked at Phoenix Hill Tavern in Louisville. Mostly local bands played there, but we would have special concerts on a regular basis. So far I am only remembering Kansas, Blackfoot, Tori Amos, Zachary Richard...

My mom and my Aunt Gennie both went to school in Danville, IL with **** and Jerry Van Dyke. My Aunt Gennie dated Jerry, but broke up with him because he was "weird". lol

I have a couple more. I guess my life was more interesting, or almost more interesting than I thought. lol
Okay, for the almost... When I was 19, I worked 2nd Shift at a truck stop. My friend Kimmy worked 3rd. After I left one night and Kimmy came on shift, Ozzy Ozbourne came in! I was bummin' for missing that, 'cause that was "in the day".
I met the band The Guess Who (but prally everyone has nowadays!) when they played in Danville, IL in the early 90's. Still have the autographed flyer from when they played at Yesterdays.
Also at Yesterday's, there was a band called The Four Horsemen. They played a song that made it to a "hit" called Rockin' is My Business. Two other girls and I got to be in the video they were making for their upcoming single Broken Wings, but then the lead singer quit and it never went anywhere! I was 3 mo.s pregnant when we filmed it, but I was wearing a long, pretty much backless shirt and you couldn't tell yet.
I think that's all of my "near famous" close encounters. Nowhere near as exciting as Red Skelton though! That was totally awesome!!

Wow! Great picture with Michael Clark Duncan! What a smile!
Thanks! And I agree with Lynn. The Red Skelton story is great!
I forgot to mention that Cyndie met James Marsters (Spike, Buffy the Vampire Slayer), at a night club a few years ago. :)

A few years ago, we were taking a weekend at Ceasars Brookdale in the Poconos and Lennox Lewis was training there for a fight. Came out of my room one day and he was staying right across from us!
I watched him every day leave and come back from training, runs, bike rides. His thighs are HUGE!
One day, when he was coming back from a run I got up the nerve to ask for a picture and he said it wasn't really a good time - very polite though. I said something like Yeah, you probably want to take a shower. He laughed but my husband thought I was crazy and said Lennox could probably kill him with a slap.

Love The Guess Who.
Double drats on the video thing for you! You could have been discovered. You would have provided a welcome alternative to Courtney Cox's big splash when she was the actress randomly selected from a prearranged group and pulled up on stage in that long ago Springsteen video. Springsteen's fine, but that video was played to death....!
No, that would have been terrible! Then I probably wouldn't be here to get and post freebies! I'd be sucking down Valium and losing kids and be too worried about getting thru the paparazzi! EGADS! Thank goodness that guy quit! lol

I went to the Presidential Inauguration in 2005, and met John McCain while he was on the Sean Hannity show.

Totally forgot about Oscar DeLaHoya, he lived right here in Big Bear Lake, had a huge compound, he regularly did his running and boxing training up here in the high Altitude. I ran into him and his pals at a restaurant up here called El Jacalito. He is a very nice and gracious person.

Cool!
Back in the 80's, my sis and I met the band Alabama after a couple of their concerts. They always stay afterwards and meet the fans and sign autographs. My sis and I each got a kiss from Randy Owen both times. He has the softest lips!

WOW! You should have certainly felt safe with Lennox Lewis across the hall. Can you imagine what a surprise someone would get if someone bugged you, you screamed, and out came Lennox Lewis from right across the hall? You are now in a don't mess with me zone... :)
With Lennox, all his trainers, family and security, I felt supersafe. My husband was a little nervous I would say something insulting by accident and Lennox would kick his a**.
