Oh, I don't know if I can pick a favorite. Chocolate, of course!

I love Dove chocolate! The kind that's filled with caramel especially. I also love the Bordeauxs from See's Candy, and the new cherry-filled Hershey's Kisses.

Love candy bars too! Snickers with Almonds is probably my favorite. :)

Chris, Bordeauxs are my favorite candy from See's too, they have been my fav since I was in high school, way back in the dark ages, lol

We don't have See's around here, which is probably a good thing! But, around Christmas, they come set up a booth at the mall where they sell these little Bordeaux candy bars with little chocolate sprinkles all over them. I always make sure I head out there during Christmas to buy me a couple. :) Love those things!

I also love the Mayfairs. Yum! I haven't had any of those now in almost two years! :(

The only See's candy is about 60 miles from me, so I don't get to have my fav very often, I didn't know they make my fav in a candy bar too...love the sprinkles, but the flavor of that candy is out of site!!744

Usually anything to do with chocolate. Depends on my mood, like lately i've been real hooked on Mr. Goodbars. Mmmmmmmmmmmmmm. Anyone tried the chocolate skittles yet? I seen them the other day @ BJ's and kept walking.

The candy bars are small, about 2" x 3". But, they are so yummy! Interestingly, they don't have the Bordeaux single pieces here, nor the Mayfairs. They sell suckers, the Bordeaux candy bars, nutty nougat bars, and then pre-boxed candy that just has a variety of chocolates in it. There's not a counter where you can select what pieces you want like in a See's store.

Kimberly, I have not seen those chocolate Skittles! Good job walking by them. If they were at BJ's, they were probably in a giant bag!

Can anyone tell a difference between Godiva chocolates and Hershey's?

I received a box of Godiva for Christmas from one of my NICU families and it tasted like Hershey's....

I just can't tell a difference.

mom2fussbudgets

Godiva chocolates are good, but way, way over-priced. Their chocolate is not remarkable, and like Brandy said, tastes pretty much the same as Hershey's!

01-26-2008, 05:01 PM
LMAO @ Chris! Unfortunately they weren't in a bag...just a giant box with about 1,000 regular size bags in it! Makes it more work to get to them, but large amounts of chocolate isn't a good thing anyways!

Brandy- Good luck on finding the chocolate Skittles! Post back and let us know! I saw the flavors were Brownie Batter, S'mores, Vanilla, Chocolate Caramel, and Chocolate Pudding.

well- they have LemonHeads...but way way back when they used to make Johnny Appleseeds that were an apple/sour apple candy...just like the lemon and grape heads. Those were my favorite candy. They do not make them anymore....now it is Applehead...and they were made by the same company. I emailed them awhile back asking if they still made the Appleseeds and was told no- now it is just Appleheads.

Talking about GOOD chocolate.......4 years ago I received a bear from the Vermont teddy Bear Company for Valentines day and it came with a box of chocolate..4 pieces.

THE BEST CHOCOLATE EVER!!!!!! So creamy and such great flavor..neevr had anything close to that chocolate before. It was Lake Champlain Chocolate Factory. It is a must try for any chocolate conissuer(sp?).

I should not be reading this thread while on a diet!!!
Chocolate is my fave. Lindt Truffles are out of this world. I like all of the flavors and usually lean toward dark chocolate, but with the truffles I like milk chocolate. This chocolate melts in your mouth like nothing you have tasted before. You have to eat it right to truly enjoy it though. Pop the whole truffle in your mouth and let it start melting. By the time you get to the filling you will be in heaven!!!
I also love Dove dark chocolate!
I like Godiva but don't think it is worth the money. Every year after Christmas I will buy a box for 50% off. It is worth that much and I get my Godiva fix for the year.
I saw the chocolate Skittles at Sam's the other day. My son was trying to sneak one of those huge boxes of them in our cart:rolleyes:
Sometimes I like non-chocolate candy. I tend to like sour stuff and strong fruit flavors.
We def are all really different because I hate the conversation hearts:p
And what about Werthers? Love the hard candy and the chewy ones.
OK--also raisinettes, malted milk balls, jelly bellies, hot tamales, Butterfinger Crisp, Kit Kat, Baby Ruth, lemon drops, jolly ranchers, Cella chocolate covered cherries, Almond Joy, 100 Grand, Twix, Twizzlers......

See why I don't keep candy in the house???

My son & husband are big time candy junkies and love "Willy Wonka Candy"!!!

I found this site & bought the "60's Groovy Candy Sampler" as Christmas gifts one year! They were a huge hit with my husband, sisters & brother-in-laws as we all remembered these candies and you don't see them around much!!!

How in the heck could I forget about those Lindt truffles. I absolutely adore those things. Last time I saw my mom, she gave me a box, so I have some in my pantry right now. I've only been eating one every other day or so though. See, sometimes I do have self control, LOL!

I like Butterfingers, Heath Bars, and Skors too. I wish they had Dark Chocolate Almond Joys. I think they did for awhile, but I no longer see them. I love the dark chocolate Snickers.

I also ADORE my homemade cracker candy and my homemade chocolate-covered peanut brittle. That stuff is dangerous for me, so I only make it once a year at Christmas.

Chuckles

Horehound drops

Molasses suckers from See's

Trinidads from Fannie May

Barley suckers

Any of the super fresh pecan brittle, chocolate caramel pecan clusters, etc. from the Green Valley Pecan Company store

Good licorice--stronger the better--lots of good imported ones from the Holland, MI, Dutch Village store

Gram's homemade raw peanut and coconut flake brittle--still good, but just not the same without her

Dark chocolate covered candied orange peel

Lemon drops in round metal tins

Bounty bars

As to Hershey's versus Godiva versus Scharffbarger and other brands, America's Test Kitchen once compared chocolate for baking and found a version of expensive Scharffbarger to be best tried in many products by many different people in blind taste tests. However, as a close second, at a much more favorable price, and much easier to find, they highly recommended the Hershey's Special Dark bars. ;)

Ooh, I had forgotten about Brach's Bridge Mix! That used to be such a treat. I used to like their chocolate stars so much, too. I bought a bag of the stars when Econofoods was closing out six of their stores a year or so ago.

Do you remember the little rolls of smarties? I just got some out of a giveaway basket last night that were new flavors. There was extreme sour(it wasn't extreme and it was very good) and bubble gum. The bubble gum looked exactly like regular smarties but it is really bubble gum!!

I can't find them anywhere! I am getting so frustrated. I can find the empty display boxes, but not the M&Ms. :(

I bought one of these at Target the other day on clearance. They are to die for! They have 300 calories a bar though, so you gotta allow for that:

How do you make a Moose Munch Bar? Start with buttery caramel corn. Fold it with smooth chocolate laced with whole almonds, cashews and toffee bits. Drench it in plenty of milk chocolate. Extravagant? You bet. Try some right now!

The moose munch bars are awesome! I have a Harry and David Outlet store like 20 minutes from my house! Their truffles are amazing!

Cool that you have an outlet! I like their stuff, but we don't have any of the stores in our area. I have never tried the truffles.

Be careful eating those nerds, when my daughter was about 15, she loved them. I would let her get them, and the next time she went to the dentist, she had 3 cavities. That was between the 6 month appointments. Needless to say, she changed her favorite kind of candy. LOL ;) :D
