I've taken down all the Nautical Stuff in our powder room, I'm looking for a new look...
What I need are suggestions...where do you start? Colors? Towels? Any good websites or what do you have in yours?
The walls are white.

We just completely remodeled our master bath this past year...new walls, floors, sink, toilet, shelves... It used to have this ugly geen paneling stuff on the bottom half of the walls (from the 70's..lol) and I really had no theme going on since everything was so ugly! Now, we have a beach theme with blues and yellows. The wall behind the shelves is light yellow and the other walls are light blue. I used seashells we found on our anniversary and some candles to decorate. It used to be so hard to relax in there, but now I love being in there! The blues and yellows really brightened it up!!!

That sounds soooo nice...
only reason I wouldn't be able to do that look is, a good friend of ours has her's done the same way, she really did a nice job with the shells, but her colors are pale peach and green. I wouldn't want her to think I'm trying to be a copy cat. LOL

I was really against the beach theme at first. After we found all the seashells though, I needed to do something with them. I had a big piece of coral I found in Bermuda too, so it all just kinda came together on it's own. Hubby bought me some really nice little baskets to display some of the shells in that worked perfect for the theme too.
I used to have an angel themed bathroom when I lived on my own. All my girlfriends loved it! One of my guy friends said he always felt like someone was watching him while he was in there though!!

We have our guest bathroom decorated with palm trees (not over done though, just shower curtain, 1 towel) and greens and browns - very neutral. I also put some of my favorite Partylite pieces in there - the global fusion line (reds/browns/golds moasic) - it adds a punch of color.

I went to HOME GOODS, TARGET AND MICHAELS yesterday...only saw one item I might want use at Michaels but didn't see anything else so I put it back. Home goods has some beautiful things for the bath...but guess what...it was all seashell stuff. I looked online at Target before I went they had a leaf metal sculpture thing, went to the store...sold out.
So back to square one.

I was in someone's bathroom once when I was about 15 and it made a huge impression on me. It was done so as when you went in, it felt like you'd just walked in to the middle of a forest. There was even texturing in some parts so that it looked like tree bark. Lots of brown and forest green (and I've never been one for brown, but I loved it). It doesn't sound really great in print, but it really was awesome. You honestly felt as though you were in a lush and lovely forest complete with commode, sink and tub! lol This probably isn't your thing, but I took a chance and posted it anyway.

Actually that's kind of the thing I'm looking for...so when you're in there, it's kinda like an escape as it were...Hmmm....now I'm getting some good ideas...
I also thought maybe a "library" type theme, since Hub likes to do some reading...LOL

Does anyone out there buy their decorating items online? If so do you have a favorite website?

we are redoing our bathroom too, but mine is attached to the master bedroom. Is it okay to have two totally different looks in each room, or should the theme flow? We have very different ideas of decorating.

I kind of think the theme should flow, not be the same but at least coordinate. But these days anything goes!:p

I'm just bumping this...I wish more people would tell us what they're "style" is in their bathrooms...
When I took all the Christmas stuff down, I realized I don't like anything I have now on the walls or in the bathroom...
any ideas would be appreciated.

My bathroom is BRIGHT yellow...it is a tiny room, so it opens it up, plus the paint was an oops color-supposed to be for my parents' bathroom, but it turned out WOW yellow....
I went to the dollar tree and got a cheap shower curtain, it has gebera daisies on it, and got the matching accessories...toothbrush holder, soap dish, lotion dispenser...and my liner. My rug is one I had for a long time...it is a woven cotton rug that was from Walmart and is probably about 10 years old....
My towels, well, they were an indulgence! I had won a giftcard from Overstock.com and they caught my eye....the price made my stomach go flippity-flop though...my towels are the most expensive thing in the bathroom.....$30.00!!!!
I have a bakers' rack in white metal over the commode...the magazine holder was in my room but I folded that up. That had come as a set and was $14 from Dollar General, I think....
My bathroom in NY was nice...I had it redone. I had white tileboard with mauve and slate flowers on it put up, and that matched my floor. I had gotten a cloth shower curtain in pink and put up a slate blue balloon valance. Not too big on pictures in the bathroom......

My master bath is chocolate brown , white and tan sounds boring but looks nice and it is calming. The main bathroom on the other hand flips back and forth between bright blue with fish and nascar. very cheery and fun there are fish everywhere the towels are a variety if coral, bright yellow, bright blue , and a seaweed green.

:)I redecorated our master bedroom and bath using the same decor. I ordered two sets of "bed in a bag" from J. C. Penney's. From one set of sheets I made curtains for bedroom (one window & one glass door) and curtain for bathroom window, from dust ruffle I made valance for bathroom window and a valance over tub. From the pillow cases I made throw pillows. I bought two twin sheets in solid color to complete the pillows. I used the scraps to make "rosettes" for the tie-backs. I also covered the top of a piano bench (which I bought at a thrift store for $10.00) to use at the foot of the bed. I covered a small stool - padded top, ruffle to cover the legs. It all turned out very pretty - spent less than $200.00. I indulged in coordinating rugs and towels. My bathroom is done in swans and believe it or not, I found a clear shower curtain with small white swans. I bought some pictures with swans at the thrift store, spray painted the mats to match my color scheme and they look really nice - all the mats match.
With sheets and/or "bed in a bag" you can really stretch a dollar when decorating.
