Hello all! I hope this is the appropriate place to post something like this. I apologize if it's not. :o

We just moved into a "new-to-us" home, built in 1959. I'm ready to update the main bathroom that has the sliding glass doors on top of the tub. I've never liked glass doors (I think they're hard to clean) and want to remove them and put up a shower curtain. However, this bathroom will only be used when we have guests so, am I making a mistake by removing them? What would YOU do?

Thanks so much for your opinions!!
Mary

I hate cleaning those! That's a chore. But, if it's the guest bathroom, they'd be easy to maintain. Then, over the years, as you redecorate, you wouldn't have to shop for a new shower curtain to go with your new scheme each time you redo. :o

If you hate cleaning them, and it is just a guest bathroom, take them down, less to clean and a shower curtain can fit any theme. Make it easy on yourself!

Put a shower curtain up and leave the doors there. Can't see them if they are dirty and instant redecorating!!

If you take them down, you are going to have to replace the tub and the surround too because of the stuff left behind from when the doors were up. We used to have the doors in our bathroom, and I hated them. We took them down and replaced the tub and surround for under $200 at Lowes. It's nothing fancy right now, but I like it a whole lot better than the doors!!!

I agree with this. My parents wanted to take down their shower doors and add a curtain, but it turned out to be a much larger job.

I would do what Gatito suggested and go to Home Depot. They will offer the best advice.
