Wonderful to see these forums!!! Could I get some feedback on the best of generic hair sprays as far as their holding power without the stiff feeling.

Although I don't use hairspray too often, I liked Suave because it was very reasonably priced. They had a line of "naturals" that didn't seem to be quite so stiff, although they have changed their packaging so I don't know if they changed the name of that line also. I know my mom likes Aqua Net, but she really needs it to hold so she gets the extra strength version, which would probably be too stiff for your liking.

Jordan,
I really like the generic line of products at Sally's. It starts of a little stiff, but in about 10 minutes it relaxs and holds all day. Plus a HUGE bottle was, I think, 6 dollars. Good Luck!!!

For the "generic" hair spray, the best one would have to be the new line that Suave has came out with. The non-aerosol "pump" spray is the best holding. It has outlasted alot of the higher priced hairsprays that I have bought. For under $2.00, it is outstanding!:D

I agree sauve does well. I will have to look for the one you mentioned next time I buy hair spray. :)

I use Suave HS as well, tried a new one out made by Dove, it's a non-aerosal pump, liked it alot, and it was under 4.00$ :)

Grew up in the 1980's in NJ, and they will have to pry the can of AquaNet from my cold dead hands. ;) I prefer the Ultra HOld in the white can - Large can is like 3.00 tops usually less - And lets put it this way my hair can withstand fairly strong wind without moving. Also it withstands high humidity - like I said I grew up near the Beach.

Anway thats my favorite, and one and only, "generic" hairspray. :D

ROFL - that is too funny - I'm from the class of '88 in Texas....AquaNet was the staple and you could never have too many cans. Those were the days hehe.:p

RAVE is the best. It's cheap, and it holds my 'hawk up well. :)

That is the one my husband uses (Rave), since the one he use to use, "Style" went bankrupt he has been happy with this one, and it is cheaper than the other ones out there, usually on sale too! He won't use the pump kind of spay's.

Gee Aqua Net was around in the 60's, I use to buy it too, it was cheap and held like glue, I loved the smell of it, lol, when I met my husband he used Style, and continued to use it until the company went bankrupt...now he uses Rave.

It's also great for removing ink from clothing before you wash it! I buy the largest one you can just to use in the laundry room!

Another good one if you don't mind that stiff feeling is Aussies Instant Freeze.
