U.S. NHTSA recall press release on six different models of 2008 Fleetwood motor homes for inverter overheating--free inspection and replacement of inverter at Fleetwood dealers:

Summary:
ON CERTAIN MOTOR HOMES EQUIPPED WITH A FIELD EFFECT TRANSISTOR (FET) BOARD BUILT BY MAGNUM ENERGY, INC., THE CIRCUITRY INSIDE CERTAIN INVERTERS CAN CAUSE AN INOPERATIVE CONDITION RESULTING IN OVERHEATING OF THE INVERTER.
Consequence:
OVERHEATING OF THE INVERTER MAY RESULT IN A POTENTIAL FIRE.
Remedy:
DEALERS WILL INSPECT AND REPLACE THE INVERTER FREE OF CHARGE. THE RECALL IS EXPECTED TO BEGIN ON OR ABOUT JANUARY 18, 2008. OWNERS MAY CONTACT FLEETWOOD AT 1-800-509-3418.

No problem. If any of our readers have laid out the big bucks for a motor home, and it has a recall, they sure deserve to know. Also, for those of us that don't have a motor home, it gives us a heads up on which ones to avoid driving nearby on the road if it's a steering problem :D

...or, the one that the transmission shifts when the owner receives a cell phone call.... :eek:

...or, the one that the slide out operates and the side room extends out while they are driving the motor home down the road... :eek: :eek: Can you imagine explaining that one to police and insurance reps, either the motor home driver or the other drivers involved in the accident?
