things i have noticed lately...grrrrr.
chicken leg 1/4's are now being cut with part of the breast bone attached. ok maybe my anatomy is wrong but this piece of bone is now being included at the top of the thigh. no reason for it i can see...apx. 1 tbsp. of meat is on it. all it does is up the weight so we pay more.
ever wonder why the same chuck roast your mother bought at the grocery store & baked in the oven never comes out the same way ur's does? no more fat marbling. lean, lean, lean, they sure have ruined mom's roast recipes. so the invention of the crock pot! lol

you're right things aren't like they used to be!!
washers & dryers when my grandma was still living she woul brag about how her washer was was almost as old as her and my mom used the same machine for years and had 4 kids. I raised 2 and bought a new machine evey couple years we were either fixing one or buying. Appliance in general may have better features but they aren'y built like the old ones!

i agree mom,
sheesh call me stupid...i can take it, but i was rather shocked when my crock pot died after 8yrs of use (winter twice a month). i really thought that thing would live forever. lol then i go to the store to replace it...all i wanted was an off, hi & low switch like i had. noooo now i have an added "warm" spot. well duh, wasn't that what the "low" was for? not to mention i couldnt just get the crock pot, i HAD to get the little crock pot to go with "free". found a use for that tho, water, cinnamon & cloves in the winter, cheap air freshner. cheaper then running a burner on the stove.

I also agree.... In- Laws bought a new, real nice micro. It's about 4 years old and it doesn't work half the time. The old crappy one we have works better. (they're not getting it!!!!)
We spend to much money on things that don't work.

I whole heartedly agree!
As for the chicken, the problem is that we now have meat cutters and not butchers of the days past. There is a big difference. Meat cutters basically just trim and package meat that has already been cut and sent to them. Butchers start from the carcass. It is so rare to find an actual butcher today. I miss being a kid/teen, living at home and going to the Butchers on Saturday morning with my mom. Now granted, as I became a teenager, I personally thought the "best cut of meat" in the store was the owners boys! LOL I learned a lot in that butcher shop. I learned how to flirt with the hottie son and get the best service and best cuts from the cooler. My mom taught me a lot about picking out the best cuts, but she was humored by the discount and attention we always received. LOL Boy I miss those days.
As for the crock-pot, My mom broke down and gave me her's when I moved to Dallas for College. I know she had it at least 10 years before she gave it to me. Well here we are another 16 years later, and it is still going strong. I think I will truly cry when it fizzles out! I might even have a memorial service. lol
Oh well, I guess that we can dwell in the past but unfortunately, some things will never be as good as they once were. That is technology for you!
