Ok, here's the lowdown - I've never owned a cell phone (don't see the need, unless in an emergency), never downloaded a song from the internet, don't own an MP3 player, have no clue what bluetooth is and feel basically inept to any grade school age child because they do or have!
I used to pride myself on being up-to-date with all the latest computer stuff, music, etc., and maybe it's because my priorities have changed, I've matured, who knows...but I feel so out of it! My saving grace is that at the very least I know my way around the internet :D
Can anyone else empathize with me?!?!

Honey I agree with whole heartedly!! I know the names of things like mp3 player, blackberry,Ipod but I really don't have a clue to what that stuff is.I thought I knew it all when I figured out my digital camera.I am a bit older with two grown kids and now a 5 1/2 yr. old girl. We just enrolled her in school. WOW!! things have changed!!
I thought my daughter was so smart she has older parents takes piano & voice lessons knows big words like volcanologist and what they do . Any way we take her to get her tested and there was 8 stations set up each a test area. I think she knows colors some letter writes her first name etc.. she gonna impress them!
I find out out this three page test cover things like more or less she did great then they look at me like i'm stupid and say your daughter didn't know the word "least" you really need to work with her. she only scored 35% on regonizing each letter of the alphabet. Well I thought we were going to kindergarten and they would teach that now what you learn in first is taught in kindergarten. Sorry for the book but your not the only one who feels out of touch at times.
While we were there we was nervous we could tell some of the test weren't going real well.I leaned over and said its ok hunny they have to take her its the law we'll go to jail other wise.LOL! I'm afraid school is going to be harder for us to help with homework because things have changed.By the way my girl is so smart there gonna be shocked with her conversation level!

Hi Heart! I used to think I would NEVER stop keeping up with the latest bands, music, etc and since I've been married and had my son my priorities have changed SO much! I too have HEARD of blackberries, IPODS, etc. but am totally clueless as to what they'd do for me????? The other day I passed radioshack and saw their portable DVD players and I was thinking, hmmmm. . . .I can let my 4 year old watch TV at home and in the car too? Times are a changing and I'm not doing a very good job at keeping up. LOL maybe they'll put out a For Dummies Book on it!

I am not keeping up with the times either. I have no cell phone and BlueTooth sounds like some type of whale. I either have to be satisfied with being left behind or try to catch up.

I can totally identify, Wendy. I bought a new stove 2 years ago. It is beautiful with all sorts of "bells and whistles" on it. In fact, I had my engineer son come over after it was installed to show me how to operate it. The directions were, I think, written by someone in a foreign country who studied English from another foreigner who didn't speak their language, either. I'm an English major, so you can imagine how many red pens I had out!!!

I can relate too. I have a cell phone only because I need it for my job (yea for tax write offs!!). I am able to navigate the internet pretty well, but other than that, I am completely lost and I am only 29. My husband knows what everything is and tries to talk to me about it, but it really just bores me to death so I just pretend I'm listening!!:D He downloads music all the time and I don't even know what the songs are. He was making fun of me about the music and decided to make a cd for me with all oldies (60's and 70's) thinking it would be a joke...well it was actually some of my favorite songs!!

I think the main problem is that technology is moving forward faster than the speed of light! I'm still working on converting to DVD (and trying to figure out what to do with our VHS tapes), and now Blu-Rays are out! And, how many newer, different, and better video game systems do we need? I finally came up with the money to buy my daughter a Nintendo DS, then shortly afterwards, the DS Lite came out. It's ridiculous and annoying. But, as long as there's money to be made, it'll never end!

Yep. And any old cell phones u don't use, you can find a way to donate them to battered womens organizations for them to use for 911!

I would LOST without technology. I practically sleep with my cell phone because I am constantly on it for work calls. I hate having a Blackberry though because it is HUGE and sometimes a pain to use.
I will stick with the small flip phone;)
