Has anybody ever had kidney stones????

I have been having excruciating pain on both of my sides where my kidneys are and now my stomach hurts.. I also feel nausea... Please help.. I have a doc appointment at 5:00 today but when I called the nurse told me I might as well go to the E.R because they dont have the equipment at the dr office to look for kidney stones.... :(

Have you tried looking on WebMD? They have all kinds of info and you might be able to make some preliminary diagnosis from their info. I just feel awful for you!!! God bless!! :(

Sounds more like a Kidney infection, yes it hurts just like that, if it were Kidney Stones you would not be able to stand the pain, the cure, probably some meds from the doc and Cranberry Juice.

Yeah, you should try chugging a big bottle of cranberry juice (no cranapple or anything - just the straight stuff). If you don't start feeling better in an hour, then go to the doctor. That works for me when I start getting kidney or bladder infections. Knocks it smooth out!

I had a stone in my left kidney 2 1/2 years ago. It is worse than child birth.I ended up having it blasted (lithotripsy). I had to wait a week and was put on hydrocodone which didnt really touch the pain.

Unfortunately, the docs won't do anything about a kidney stone if you are in the middle of an attack. The most you get is pain meds which do not even touch the pain, and it can be worse than natural childbirth.
They can do the lithotripsy later, which I refer to as the medical version of Asteroids(the old video game)
I wish you were closer. I have had success in helping people pass kidney stones. The pain comes from when the stone gets stuck along the way as your body is trying to pass it. I have a machine that creates a vibration that helps it get "unstuck". I have even had people get up off of the table, go to the bathroom, and pass the stone right then. When I discovered this by accident about 5 years back I was so excited. I had seen so many people suffer horribly with kidney stones. I tried to call our local urologist--we only have one. To my disappointment he had no interest in my discovery. Then I thought, well why would he, it wasn't going to fatten his wallet:rolleyes:

Our oldest daughter had kidney stones a few years ago. We thought it was her appendix. The pain she was in was excruciating! She ended up being hospitalized for 2 days.

The urologist told her she would have to pass the stones naturally, but did give her medication to help dissolve them. He told her to drink a lot of lemonade. The acid it is helps to keep the calcium in your kidneys from forming into stones. He suggested she drink cranberry juice, not a blend just straight cranberry juice. He told her his wife had kidney stones and she said the pain was worse than childbirth. He said the pain is similar to the pain felt with a gall bladder attack.

She has followed the regimen of drinking lemonade and cranberry juice ever since an has been stone free.

Glad to hear she's getting better.
My husband had the stones about 3 months ago. We went to the ER first, I was in tears seeing my strong, former Marine in sooo much pain. They had to give him 2 types of pain meds - he was soo loopy! :) But it did help with the pain. The did some type of scan and saw the 2 stones on the move. We saw the urologist a day later and he said he'd have to do the surgery. I was scared! We (he) tried drinking shots of a mixture of lemon juice and olive oil to see if he could pass them before the surgery, but no luck. He had to have the surgery, but came out a-ok! They still haven't told us what the stones were made of, so he can adapt his diet to prevent them from forming again. We keep the fridge stocked with cranberry juice now too - it's tasty and good for you!

Okay guys I am home...with my vicoden...:p I still feel a little nausea. Thanks for all of your prayers and support and thank you Wanda for calling me!! Thanks you Dawn for being so kind as well..Well THANKS EVERYBODY for the advice. I cancelled my apt. yesterday and went straight to the E.R. Once there they got me on some toradol(pain meds.) It helped a little with the pain but not to much... They found traces of blood in my urine and gave me a CT of my torso( kidneys, liver, spleen, all that good stuff). Well the CT can only show calcium stones and one other kind but I forgot the name.. Well there are many different kinds of stones. So ofcourse they could not find any stones on the CT!! I have to go back on Thursday to talk to the doctor again about another test to find stones or if this is just an infection.. I am on Bactrim now (an antibiotic) and the pain is better..(maybe the vicoden!!) I hate not knowing what the heck is wrong with me!!! Could I of passed a kidney stone without knowing it??? Heck I dont know!!:)

Yes, you could of passed that stone and not known it, most times those stones are so small you would of never seen it, but when passing one it feels like a boulder,...I hope it has passed, good thing you are on pain meds and antibiotics too! take it easy and rest, hope you feel better asap!

They were all calcium. Thank God she hasn't had any more problem with them. Her urologist was surprised she had them since she was only 22 at the time.

If I have kidney stones they are not calcium. So we will see. Maybe its a kidney infection. At the E.R yesterday the doc told me that he has seen kids as young as 10 come in with kidney stones!! I couldnt believe it.. Just imagine a little child going through so much pain!! I sent my Mom to the store for some cranberry juice. Once she gets home I'm going to start the chugging!!LOL:D

Went to the doctor was waiting for 2 hours for the E.R to fax over my info(my doctor wouldnt treat me until he saw the ct and the blood tests) and after waiting he came in and told I could go home and wait for him to call or wait at the office. I said I will be going home now!!! Whatever!!! Im ticked but I just need to relax and take it easy.....

I missed the whole mom/daughter/stepdaughter thing--See you guys could have solved it by making me the step daughter and throwing my ***** out of the house!! I would have never known!!

Lynne, I have really wondered if anyone treats kidney stones with the method I discovered. That is why I called the local urologist. He couldn't quit playing God long enough to listen to me though...I just don't have the time or energy to pursue it....
