Sorry...but most dogs smell. They're too cute, so you learn to overlook it. We have a standard poodle, which are one of the few dogs that don't shed or smell, so we lucked out. My aunt has a black lab mix who smells after a bath too. They have dog cologne at the pet store, it won't eliminate the smell, but will help a bit. I've used tropical scent which smells like pineapples and coconut suntan lotion. Odoban is also a great cleaner for people with pets, something about the enzymes banishing the odors. I think you can also just spray that stuff like you do with febreeze.
I'm sure other posters on this site can help you out too.

LOL, ya might as well get used to it! Thats a Lab. We've had our yellow lab for over 7 years, and he smells of "Fritoes"--no matter how often you give him a bath---he still stinks! Oh...I do suggest a book for you though...It's adorable, called "Marley & Me" written by John Grogan. It is amazing how much this book represents the labrador retriever! You'll wanna read it over and over :)

Labs are a water dog, thus they have a water resistant coat. My MIL raised labs and we were told by a groomer that they need a special shampoo to cut through the oil (that repels the water). Othewise you don't get down to the skin when bathing. If a groomer is out of the question (around here its about 20.00 for a bath) look at your vets or a pet store for something that is designed for the problem.

Use something like Crazy Dog, but make sure it's not too strong of a smell. Wash every other week or on a as needed basis, make sure you rinse completely and DRY the dog completely. Follow with a doggie body spray (I like crazy dogs's green apple shampoo and spray).
You have to DRY the dog completely, either by a blow dryer on a low setting or a towel dry.
You may need to take the dog to a groomer about every 3 months. Cleaning the ears and the annal glands help (this should be done by the vet or groomers).
Not all dogs stink. I have 3 in my house at all times and you can't tell.
Be sure to wash bedding regularaly also.

I have 4 dogs and the only time they smell is when they swim in their pool and smell like wet dog.they are inside dogs, sometimes the beagle will get into stuff and smell like a dead skunk, that's when she gets a bath... sometimes though my boy lab smells and I think it's just a "boy" thing..lol
